Stidham Lake was named after William Howard "W. H." [539] Stidham who owned land there. W. H. Stidham was a justice of the peace for the Holz percinct and is listed as living at Lake Head in 1915-1916. The Stidham family came to Pierce Co., Washington from Indiana in 1890 and first settled on a homestead in Graham, Washington.
