Bridge 17-083, at the Mill Street Undercrossing in Grass Valley, Nevada Co., California, is named the "Ernest J. Stidham, 1st Lieutenant, Memorial Bridge". It was built in 1969, and was named by Assembly Concurrent Resolution 43, Chapter 220, in 1971. First Lieutenant Ernest James Stidham, casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army Reserve, 1LT Stidham served our country until December 22nd, 1968 in Tay Ninh, South Vietnam. He was 25 years old and was not married. Ernest died from small arms fire. Ernest was born on March 14th, 1943 in Carmichael, California.
