The following text is a rough timeline of events that occured through the lineage of my family line. Originally this was used as a research tool, and as I saw how events unfolded over the years, it helps you understand what their lives may have been like. I keep a paper copy of this on my desk, and it is my main reference for facts that are known, and I add items to it quite often.
1760's - Angus , born, Islay, Scotland
Angus was tenant farmer for the father of John Ramsey
of Kildalton Parish - sept of Maclachlan's?

1795 - William, born, Islay - son of Angus
William was a footsoldier in the Army of the Duke of Argyll

1797 - Sarah McCuaig, born
Sarah was of the sept of McLeans of Duart

1824 - William married Sarah McCuaig, Islay

1.12.1827 - John, born, Islay - son of William and Sarah

1834 - Ramsey family takes over farm to raise sheep

1834 - William and Sarah emigrate to Glengarry, Ontario, 3,000 miles
was said to be a 3 month voyage on a military sailing vessel

1835 - William and Sarah travel by wagon to Oro township, 300 miles

1839/41? - John leaves his family in Ontario to go to Wisconsin, age 12 - 14 ?

1854 - John marries Mimi Castlewood, Springvale, Wisconsin (Fond du Lac)
they have 3 children, Franklin, John and William

8.19.1862 - John enlists in Company 'F', 21st Wisconsin Infantry, Civil War

10.8.1862 - John shot through leg, 5" below left knee, hospitalized 5 months
incident near New Hope Church, Georgia

5.28.1864 - John shot in right wrist, flesh wound
incident near Louisville, Kentucky

6.8.1865 - John, honorably discharged from service, Washington, DC

1865 - John divorces Mimi
all 3 children had died from neglect...suspect typhoid

12.1866 - John marries Cynthia Maria Curtis, Springvale, Wisconsin
near Fond du Lac, Justice of the peace, Mr. Pease

1867 - Helen Elizabeth Graves, born Iowa

1.14.1868 - George Edward, born Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, son of John

1869 - William, born Fond du Lac, dies before age of 5

6(?).1873 - John and family move to Madison, South Dakota (George age 5)

3.20.1875 - Mary Eveline, born Madison, South Dakota, daughter of John

1881 - William, son of Angus, dies in Ontario, age 86

3.13.1882 - John Franklin, born Madison, South Dakota, son of John

8.1882 - Cynthia Maria, wife of John, mother of George, Mary and John, dies

9.1886 - George leaves for school, Pierre University, Pierre, South Dakota

1887 - Sarah, wife of William (son of Angus), dies in Ontario, age 90

3.8.1891 - John's church destroyed by fire, Madison, South Dakota

6.1891 - George graduates from Pierre University, BA degree

9.1891 - George enters Princeton Theological Seminary, New Jersey

9.29.1891 - John participates in cornerstone laying ceremony for new church, Madison, WI

6.1893 - George leaves Princeton Theological Seminary

11.28.1893 - George marries Helen Eliza Graves, Artesia, South Dakota

1.18.1895 - Gladys Evelyn, daughter of George, born Gary, South Dakota

8.16.1897 - John Claude, son of George, born Gary, South Dakota

1.15.1899 - Luella Grace, daughter of George, born Gary, South Dakota

2.16.1909 - John, son of Angus, dies, Balaton, Minnesota, age 82

4.23.1913 - Curtis Leroy, son of George, born Lyons, Minnesota

9.21.1934 - George, son of John, dies, Boot Lake, Minnesota, age 66
