2002 Gathering of the Western Clans

Alright, here's our excuse for getting together this year!  Simon Fraser University is sponsoring a Scottish Studies Conference, and it would seem the perfect opportunity to visit Vancouver again!  There are several links below, with information related to the conference.

The "Unofficial", 2002 West Coast Gathering of the Clans of Islay

Scottish Studies Centre Fall Conference   On September 12-14 (Thursday - Saturday), 2002 the Centre for Scottish Studies, at Simon Fraser University, will be holding its third annual conference, this time featuring an in-depth look at the Scots Heritage in British Columbia and the Canadian West.  In addition to talks, workshops and paper presentations, the event will provide an opportunity for people to have archivists, librarians and other experts assess the historical value of any letters, books, papers, art works or similar material that they may have in their possession relating to the role of Scots in Canada.

There are costs involved for the seminar, check the registration form (PDF) for details.

Simon Fraser University at Harbour Centre is located in Vancouver's historic Spencer building, at the corner of Hastings and Richards streets

Thank you, Thing!   How to get there

We have acquired access to a room at the conference - Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.  There is NO CHARGE to attend our get-together at 3:30!

We plan on dining afterwards at The Old Spaghetti Factory in Gastown (downtown Vancouver) around 6:00 p.m.

Informal gatherings will be held Thursday, Friday and possibly Saturday nights - pick a pub!

No one is really in charge of anything, yet... just bring cash, lots of cash!!!

And we don't even expect everyone to attend this conference at the university!

I'm just hoping that Jon will sing again!!!

Suggesting food and drink, singing and dancing, piping and cabers!
