Donald and Sarah McQueen

By process of comparison and of elimination, I believe this to be a photo of Donald McQueen (b. Islay, abt 1816) and his second wife Sarah who bore him six children. In the 1881 Census of Simcoe County North, she gives her birthplace as Scotland. At this time he was 65 and she was 49 years old.

Angus McQueen, b.15 Nov 1850, d.10 Nov 1885

Son of Donald McQueen and his first wife Catherine McArthur. None of their three children lived to marry or have children of their own. Donald was born 1814 (or 16), and died on Nov 24 1885 - just 2 weeks after Angus. Photo credit: J.A. Castor, Collingwood, Ontario

Gilbert McQueen, b.1867 Stayner Ont., d.1947 Calgary, Alberta

Photo of my grandfather taken before he married in 1893. Inscribed on the back by my grandmother, Eliza Jane Cruickshank: "To Mary - You will have to be contented with this untill you get another, from Jane".

Gilbert was the last child born to Donald McQueen (b. Islay about 1816) and his second wife Sarah (Marion) McCannel. Gilbert was a blacksmith in Deloraine, Manitoba, and moved with his family to Alberta about 1909. He established his own shop in Vulcan, Alberta.
