McColeman b. 21 Dec 1799 and d. 16 Mar 1886.
He married Catherine Ann Bell in 1827 and emigrated to Canada from the Isle of Islay about
1831. I believe his father may have been Alexander McColman b.1766? in Killarow,
Islay. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Katie

wife Janet MCALPINE 4 children all born in Bowmore: Marion, 1820; Margaret. 1823; Helen,
1825; Mary, 1827. Family emigrated to Ontario, Canada in 1835. Family lore
says Janet's mother was Flora MCGREGOR.
Daughter Margaret, wife of Joseph Shattuck, and her family are buried in Springford
Cemetery, Twsp. of S. Norwich, Ontario. Her tombstone says: "FROM MACGREGOR
CLAN".
Buried nearby: " Donald MCALPIN, d. 1850 age 80 - from Balmoro, Kilmichael Parish,
Urgyleshire". I found a birth for a Donald MCAlpin 19 May 1771 in
Kilmichael Parish Glassery records, son of John MCALPIN & Isabel BUCHANNAN. He
is buried in a plot with Margaret Shattuck's children & grandchildren.
Also 6 rows from Margaret Shattuck's plot in the same section are:
Alexander MCALPIN - 1810 - 1897 "a native of Argile "; his wife Christina - died
1893 aged 64; Alexander MCALPIN - died 1931 aged 89. (Possibly his son?)
Except for Margaret I have not been able to locate any of the other members of this family
after they arrive in Ontario. Also have not been able to find parents for Angus and
Janet on Islay. Due to his placement in the family plot I feel that Donald MCALPIN
is related and could be the key to finding the family on Islay. Any help appreciated. Joanna Curtis
