It is an index of names for those people petitioning the court in New
Orleans for emancipation from slavery, 1814 -1843. It only covers
Orleans Parish, but it looks like a good resource
if your ancestors were in the right place.

The Latta Plantation
This is an interesting little site set in Mecklenburg County, NC. It is the home page of the James Latta Plantation, active in the early 1800s which is now a living history site.
What makes this an interesting site is that it does more than just show
off the plantation house...it has a little history of the area, of various
types of people, planters, small farmers,
slaves, and helps give you an idea of the look and feel of what life
might have seemed like at a time when many of our ancestors were starting
on the path from the east coast to various points in the South and beyond.
The site contains some general information on the slaves at the Latta plantation, including some illustration of living conditions and some more in depth about two of them.
