Notes for Francis A. Mague
Notes for FRANCIS A. MAGUE:
First mentioned in the Federal Census of 1850 as "Frances A." and listed as a female. The family informant gave the name "Fran-SIS" and the census taker erroneously listed the child as "Fran-CES." In the 1860 census, however, this person is listed as "Frank," a 12 year old male.
Thomas Mague's 1899 obituary mentions Frank A. Mague as one of seven living children at the time. This is totally consistent with facts gathered over the past sixteen years. Thomas and Laura had a total of ten children, and Henry (1846-82), Harriet Jane (b+d 1860) and George Charlton (1862-65) had already died as of 1899.
Thomas' obituary stated that Frank was residing in New Bedford at the time.
