Marian Maude RAY

Arthur Barker was born to an English immigrant family, the second of four children. The family lived in Iowa until about 1899, when they moved to Rockford, IL, and he was raised there. He served as a private in the Army during World War I.

Marian Ray, the oldest of three children, was raised in the northern part of Rockford, in an area known as Harlem.

Arthur and Marian married 15 Sep 1915 in Rockford. They had one daughter, Rowena Georgeann, born in Rockford. Arthur and Marian divorced in 1926.

On 12 Nov 1936 in Davenport, IA, Arthur married Olive Mae 'Marie' BRUNER of Cordova, IL. She was born 20 Feb 1905 in Loretta, NE, the daughter of Earl and Edith (MACE) BRUNER. Arthur and Marie settled in Cordova, where he worked for the John Deere Corporation and she taught music. They had no issue. Arthur passed away 6 Jun 1974 at the age of 81. Marie passed away 20 Feb 1983, on her 78th birthday. They are buried together in Cordova Cemetery.

Marian stayed in the Rockford area. On 22 Dec 1930, she married Roy Charles RICHE. He was born 22 Jul 1882, the son of Josiah and Orilla (FELTS) RICHE. They settled on a farm outside Durand. They had no issue. During World War II, Marian joined the WACS, despite being a grandmother by then. Roy passed away 22 Aug 1965. Marian passed away 4 Apr 1979 at the VA hospital in Madison, WI. Roy and Marian are buried together in Durand Cemetery.
