84thg regiment of Foot (Royal Highland Emigrants)
Raised in Canada from veterans of disbanded Highland regiments and taken onto the regular establishment January, 1779. Sent to the relief of Fort Cumberland November, 1776. The 2nd Battalion sent to Charleston April, 1781, fighting at Eutaw Springs SC. Returned to New York April, 1782, and from there to Canada where disbanded 1784.
Uniform: Blue facings, lace with one blue stripe in between two red stripes; officers' metal, gold.
Colonel: Lieutenant General Sir Henry Clinton, K.B., to 1783
Lieutenant General Sir Guy Carleton, K.B., 1783 to disbanding
1st Battalion Commander: Colonel Allan MacLean
2nd Battalion Commander: Lieutenant Colonel John Small
