On 2-17-1806 Mary Small filed the following document with the Court in Russellville, Logan County.� Notation on the border states; Small to deed Dickey (Examined). This from an early deed book in the Clerks office at Russellville: "Know
all men by these presents that I Mary Small of Logan County & State of
Kentucky, Widow of William Small deceased deliver good causes -- me
hereunto moving have ordained, constituted and authorized & by these do
ordain, constitute appoint and authorize John Dickey of 'County and
State my true and lawful attorney for me and in my name to collect
receive and in my name receipt for all and every singular the legacy or
legacy s left me by John Henderson my father of Amherst County state of
Virginia deed and all (illeg.) my legal part or parts of said John
Hendersons estate legally coming to me by last Will or any other way &
further I do hereby empower & fully authorize my said attorney in my
name for me & to my proper use and behalf to sue for and recover said
legacy or legacy s or part or parts my said fathers estate legally
coming to me & to use all legal measures necessary to said purpose of
recovery of said premises & do by presents ratify and confirm all &
singular every legal measure which my said attorney shall pursue about
said premises hereby authorizing such legal�� measures as I myself could
or might pursue were I personally present� In witness whereof I have

1811 Feb. 2 | Deed Book C, page 202, Power of Attorney. Mary Small appoints her brother John Henderson of Madison Co., KY, as her attorney in fact to act to collect any money due her from her father John Henderson, deceased, of Nelson Co., VA, estate in hands of Robert Henderson of said Nelson County, one of Executors of the last will and testament of said John Henderson, deceased, and she further authorizes her attorney to bring suit against Executor. Witness Henry Small Note: (Her father willed her 70 pounds, payable within two years of his demise by his executor and son Robert) Apparently Robert never paid her what was her inheritance. |

(Bouldin says; I think this to be a brother of Fielding, because in the index to order book 8, it is given as John Small Jr. deceased.. I think it is properly indexed and is really John Small Jr. Fieldings father. John Small did not die until later) Stephen Tabue, Aaron Trabue, Martin and William Hogan are appointed appraisors of the estate of john Small deceased and to make report. |

Logan County records contain numerous records to settle the estate of George McNeely dec'd, father of Nancy Small, nee McNeely, husband of John Small dec'd. George died 24 June 1818, his wife Sarah Rutledge preceded him in death by 5 days. They died of the Milk Fever Epidemic that was in Spencer County at that time. |

and William B Kutz? infant heir of Betsy McNeely dec. who is a daughter of the said George McNeely by Mearmaduke
B Morton William Edward Andrew Caldwell companions for that purpose appointed by the Logan County Court on this
day of the first part and Joseph Martin of Logan County Kentucky of the second part witnesseth that where as on
the 3rd day of November 1817 the said George McNeely executed his bond to the said Joseph Morton binding himself
his heirs and to convey to said Morton his heirs two certain tracts of land on the waters of Gasper River in Logan
County upon the payment of seven hundred and twenty three dollars 33 cents as is shown by said bond now on record
in the order book of the Logan county court and the said George McNeely having departed this life and it appearing
to the satisfaction of the court that the purchase money has been paid the said companions were on this day appointed
by said court to convey land to Joseph Morton for and on the behalf of the said heirs of the said George McNeely
Dec. which and is described in said bond as to wit, two certain tracts of land containing together two hundred
and twenty seven acres and bounded as beginning at a post oak and black oak running then S to 85 and E 171 poles
to the small oaks by a little sink then S 5 W 165 poles to the black oak to rising ground then N 5 E 165 poles
to the beginning containing by survey 176 acres also one other tract beginning at a small hickory and two black
oaks the beginning corner of George McNeely 200 acres survey running thence So 68 W 59 poles to a stake by a post
oak 3 poles south of 2 black oaks and a white oak in a sink thence S 23 Et 25 poles to a hickory thence So 33 Wt
94 poles to a post oak thense n99 et 144 poles to a stake on James McNeely line thence with his line n5 E8 poles
to a post oak and black oak beginning at corner to said James McNeely then N 38 Wt 39 poles to the beginning containing
by survey 51 acres the aforesaid grantors party of the first part by said companions do by their presents bargain
sell convey and confirm to the said Joseph Morton party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever the before
described tracts or parcels of land with their appointments to have and to hold the said tracts or parcels of land
with their apprentenances to the said Joseph Morton party of the second part his assigns forever free to own all
persons claiming or to claim the same or any part or parcel thereof in any way or manner whatever the said grantors
party of the first part by said commissioners will by these premises to warrant and forever defend in testimony
the foregoing the aforesaid grantor party of the first part by said Commissions hereto sets their names and seals
