To all to whom these presents shall come, Greetings: KNOW YE, THAT IN PURSUANCE OF AN ACT OF the legislature, entitled : An Act for establishing the mode of" granting the lands now vacant in this State, and for allowing a "communication to be received for some lands that have been granted, passed the 19th day of February 1791; WE HAVE GRANTED and by these presents DO GRANT unto THOMAS SMALLL his heirs and assigns a plantation or tract of land containing two hundred and eighty two acres, surveyed for him the 22 January 1820 situate Lancaster distirct on the head branch of Flat Creek waters of Big Lynches Creek, bounded by a line running S.E. by land for Reuben Hays N.W. & N. E. by lands surveyed for Charles hayes, West by land surveyed for Abram Addams.
Having such shape, form and marks as are represented by a plat here to anneded, together with all woods, trees, waters, water-courses, profits, commodities, appurtenances and hereditaments whatsoever thereunto belonging TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said tract of TWO HUNDRED AND EIGHTY TWO acres of land, and all the singular other the premises hereby granted unto the said THOMAS SMALL.
His heirs and assigns forever, in free and common usage.
GIVEN UNDER THE SEAL OF THE STATE
Witness his Excellency John Geddes, Esquire, Governor and commander in Chief in and over the said State, at Columbia this Seventh day of February Anno Domini, one thousand eight hundred and twenty and of the independence of the United States of America, the forty fourth year.

And hereunto a plat thereof annexed representing the same, certified by Richard Watts, for Dan'l Fillinghart, Surveyor General 3rd February 1820 (plat is attached.) shaped like an arrow pointing to the SW with a very small pointed tail behind.
