Guardianship for the children of Lewis Small: James Westbrook was made guardian.
1852 guardianship of Frances A. Small was transferred to William J. Updike and his wife Susan. Susan Small and
William J. Updike m. July 6 1843, Dallas Co., AL
Susan and William requested they be removed from guardianship due too many difficulties. There are receipts for
payment to boarding school for Frances A. and reimbursement by the court. However, the court documents themselves
are not on file, just receipts.
James Welch took guardianship of Frances A. Small, minor and in 1854 transferred it to Cyrus Small.
James Westbrook signed for heirs of Lewis Small settlement to Rebecca Small (widow)
