Peter Vose's Diary

(now located in ME Historical Society, Portland)

15 Apr 1889

"Jeremiah Small of Pembroke left home on Sunday, it is supposed, to go to a weir he was making down the bay. Not returning, his body was found on the beach the next morning. He was a drinking man. Years ago, Benjamin Small's body was found. He was supposed to have been killed.

Afterward, Benjamin Small's wife Almira's body was found dead in an
outhouse or pigpen.

Then, his cousin, Jacob Small, was found drowned on the beach in
Pembroke. Lastly, his own body was found."[11663.ftw]
