James Nicholas SMALL was the oldest son of James David SMALL Sr and unknown mother's name of Rockingham Co. NC. Nicholas SMALL and his wife Margry LEMOND/LEMONS sold their Rockingham Co. NC farm in July 1832, and joined a wagon train with the PIRTLE, LEMONDS, and others members of the SMALL family going to Indiana. Four children, Sarah, James, Nancy and Robert made the trip. The other children being born in Indiana.
