WOOSTER - John E. Stine, 59, of Wooster, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, at his home.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem, with Pastors Christopher Cottrel and Dean Hammond officiating. Burial will be at Congress Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by the West Salem James Stevenson American Legion Post 499.

Friends may call today (Friday) from 2-4 and 7-9 at the funeral home, or one hour prior to the services.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Greater Wayne County, 2525 Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.

John was born July 27, 1946, in Lodi to Virgil and Blanche (Fair) Stine and married Linda Schmale on July 6, 1968. She survives.

He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War and retired in 1999 from Rexroth Corp. in Wooster, after 34 years of service.

He was a member of Congress Community Church, James Stevenson West Salem American Legion Post 499, West Salem Masonic Lodge 398 and served on the Town & Country Street Fair Committee.

Surviving in addition to his wife are sons, Matthew Stine of Steubenville and Timothy M. Stine of West Salem; a granddaughter, Chloe Sturgis; sisters, Evelyn (Robert) Kramer of Medina and Wanda (Larry) Wilson of Florida; a brother-in-law, Roger Schmale of Smithville; and a sister-in-law, Rhea Schmale of Wooster.

His parents died previously.
