WOOSTER - John E. Carey Jr., 57, of Wooster, died Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at Wooster Community Hospital.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem with Pastor Robert Holmes officiating. Burial will be at West Salem Cemetery.

Friends may call tonight (Thursday) from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was born Feb. 8, 1947, in Newark to John E. Sr. and Lillie (Pemberton) Carey.

He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.

He was an antique dealer and had worked at Wal-Mart in Wooster.

He was a member of Eagle Lodge in Wooster.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara (Hyder) Carey; four children, Christopher Hyder and John Carey III, both of Wooster, Jeffrey Carey of Marietta and Clyde Carey of New York; two grandchildren; four sisters, Sue Thomas of Florida, Aurie Szymczak of New Washington, Frances Gray of Ashland and Patricia Swart of Wooster; a half-sister, Sherry Blake of Jeromesville; two brothers, Charles Carey of Texas and George Carey of Orrville and two half-brothers, David Buchanan of Polk and Tom Buchanan of Wadsworth.

His parents died previously.
