WEST SALEM -- Dale R. Allison, 82, of West Salem, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Memorial services will be Wednesday, Nov. 26, at 11 a.m. at Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem, with the Rev. Carl Uhler officiating. Military rites will be conducted following the services by James Stevenson American Post 499 of West Salem.

Friends may call this evening, Nov. 25, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be given to Town & Country Fire Department, P.O. Box 175, West Salem 44287; or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Dale was born Oct. 21, 1926, in West Salem, the son of Forest and Bertha (Weisman) Allison and married Ann Guiselman on April 3, 1956. She survives.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was owner/operator of Allison & Son Hardware and Allison's Plumbing in West Salem. He retired from The College of Wooster, and had worked at the former Retzler Hardware in Wooster.

He was a member of Ashland Eagles, and was a former member of West Salem Council, West Salem Fire Department, West Salem Masonic Lodge 398 and Jackson Township Board of Appeals.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are daughters, Lynn (Ted) Ambers of Polk and Molly Allison of West Salem; grandchildren, Aaron (Cameron) Ambers and Megan (Robert) Mealey; and three great-grandchildren.

A son, Scott, died in 2004. His parents; and a brother, Paul Allison, died previously.
