Vera Marguerite (Silver) Bruhm


BRUHM, Vera Marguerite - 80, Lower Northfield, Lunenburg Co., died May 31, 2001, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in New Germany, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd and Gertrude (Meisner) Silver. She was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Branch 102, New Germany. She was a member of New Germany United Church and an avid card player.

She was a wonderful, fun loving mother to her children, Dale DeLong, David DeLong, Sharon DeLong (Anderson), all of Ontario. Loving wife to her husband, Charles. Brother, Carman; sister, Cleo, both of Michigan; stepchildren, Elaine Dittmer, Susan Wenghofer, both of Ontario; granddaughter, Cheryl Anderson; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Melissa, Ashleigh, Jessica and Allen; great great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Austin; step-grandchildren, Shayne and Calvyn; two step-great-grandchildren, all of Ontario. She was predeceased by her first husband, Carman DeLong.

There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville. Graveside memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, in Epworth United Church Cemetery, New Germany, Rev. Natalie Buchanan officiating. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Lung Association of Nova Scotia, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or any charity.

She was an avid card player and a wonderful, fun loving mother to ther children, twins David and Dale DeLong; and daughter Sharon Anderson (DeLong), all of Ontario; loving wife to her husband Charles. She is also survived by her brother Carman Silver, and sister Cleo Silver, both of Michigan, U.S.A., also two stepdaughters, Elaine Dittmer and Susan Wenghofer both of Ontario, and one granddaughter, Cheryl Anderson; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. Also, two step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren, all of Ontario. She was predeceased by her first husband, Carman DeLong.

A memorial graveside service was held June 12, 2001 at 11 a.m. in Epworth United Church Cemetery, New Germany, with Rev. Natalie Buchanan officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville. No visiting hours by request. Family flowers only. Memorial donations were made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Lung Association of Nova Scotia, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, and any charity of choice.

CARD OF THANKS The family of the late Vera Bruhm would like to express their sincere thanks to everyone for their kindness and support in our recent loss. Thank-you for the phone calls, visits, gifts of food, sympathy cards and donations. Special thanks to Dorothy DeLong, Judith Mader and Hazel Zwicker for all that you did for us. Thank-you to Dr. Naugler for his care and phone call, and to the nursing staff in Intensive Care and the 4th floor of the South Shore Regional Hospital. Thanks to Rev. Natalie Buchanan for the wonderful service, and for attending the reception following the service. Also, to everyone who attended the service and the reception following the service.
