Alma Bilbrey
MARION - Alma Ellen Silver Bilbrey, 92, died Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at the McDowell Hospital. Born June 26, 1910, in Cowpens, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late John Robert and Mary Hopper Silver. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jake William Bilbrey and two daughters, Pansy Presnell and Elizabeth Towler.
She attended the First Baptist Church in Marion. She will be remembered by her family as a happy person and a dear mother and grandmother. She is survived by two daughters, Jean Barber and Lois Ashby, both of Marion; a brother, T.A. Silver of Granite Falls; a sister, Muriel Barnes of Tampa, Florida; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Jerry and Betty Padgett of Marion.
The funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the McCall Memorial Chapel of the Kirksey Funeral Home. The Reverend Ralph Reep officiated. Interment followed at the McDowell Memorial Park Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home prior to the services.
