Helen Holbrooks Barrett, 53, of Franklin, died Sunday, June 27, in a local hospital.

A native of Macon County, she was a daughter of Nellie Higgins Holbrooks Gibson and the late Frank Holbrooks. She worked for the Macon County Tax Office and was a member of Mashburn Branch Baptist Church.

In addition to her mother she is survived by her husband of 35 years, Willard Barrett; two sons, Jeff Barrett and Jim Barrett, both of Franklin; one daughter, Jan Barrett of Franklin; one sister, Carolyn Bell of Franklin; one brother, Boyd Holbrooks of Franklin; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 29, in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home with Reverend Ernie Sanders officiating. Burial was in the Burningtown Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ralph Sanders, Tommy Raby, George Barrett, Homer Holbrooks, Jack Duke and Junior Cabe.

Memorials may be made to Burningtown Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Bill Edmonds, 25 Bob Edwards Road, Franklin.

Macon Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
