James F. Bollinger HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. -- James F. Bollinger, 75, of Hendersonville, N.C., passed away on Friday, Feb. 11, 2005, at Pardee Memorial Hospital following a sudden illness. He was born in Saratoga Springs, a son of the late Fred A. Bollinger and Helen Toolan Bollinger, and had resided in the Hendersonville, N.C., area for the past 13 years. He was employed as an engineer with the General Electric Nuclear Power Division, retiring after 42 years of service. After moving to Hendersonville, he entered his second career of law enforcement, working with the Fletcher Police Department, Buncombe County Sheriff's Office and the North Carolina Arboretum. He was a member of Mills River United Methodist Church. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Bollinger. He will be remembered as a quiet man with a generous spirit. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Shirley Sigsby Bollinger; a daughter, Susan Mahood and her husband, Paul; three sons, David Bollinger and his wife, Frances, Michael Bollinger and his wife, Carol, and USAF Sgt. James Bollinger; three brothers, John Bollinger and his wife, Betty, Ronald Bollinger and his wife, Elaine, and Paul Bollinger; and four grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, at Mills River United Methodist Church. The Rev. Paul B. Thompson will officiate.
