AREA COUPLE HONORED ON 90TH BIRTHDAYS
Mr. and Mrs. Claude F. Durfee of Carman Road were recently entertained at an open house in honor of their 90th birthdays, May 4 and 5.
The affair was given by their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Peterson, at their home, 2 Morningside Drive. They were assisted by Mrs. Peterson’s brother, Alton H. Durfee, Sr., and his wife of Pattersonville.
The table from which refreshments were served was decorated in rose, white and green and centered with a 4-tier birthday cake. The couple were recipients of many cards, flowers, gifts, and money.
Mrs. Durfee, the former Lucy Sigsbee, was employed at the Wallace company for 17 years in the gift department. She retired in 1946. She still enjoys good health and does all her own housework.
Mr. Durfee was engaged in carpenter work for many years and operated a fruit and vegetable stand for eight years on Carman Road. He still grows his own garden and starts all his own plants from seed.
Besides their son and daughter they have three grandsons; Alton Jr., and Dennis Durfee of McGuire Rd., Delanson, and Dwight Sickler, Parkers corners; also ghree great grandchildren- Dennis Durfee and Deborah and Matthew Sickler.
The couple received the best wishes of approximately 50 friends and relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Durfee will be married 65 years in December.

Durfee; Mother of Mrs. Carleto Peterson of Schenectady and Alton H. Durfee of Pattersonville, N.Y.; Grandmother of Dwight Sickler and Dennis and Alton Durfee Jr.; also survived by 4 great-grandchildren. Private funeral services Monday at 1:30 P.M. from the Brunk Funeral Home, Voorheesville. No calling hours will be held.
