Records of theDutch Reformed Church, Albany, NY
1756, May 2. Evert, of Evert Siksbey and Elsje Egmont. Wit.: Edward Hogg, Maritje Siksbey.

Notes: Minutes of the Commissioners for detecting and defeatingConspiracies
in the State of New York, Albany County Sessions, 1778-1781 Vol. 2
Page 748: Adrian Bradt Junr, Evert Sixbey, Jacoubs Van Valkenburgh,Alexander
Conning and Ann Conning, his wife and Richard Kerknaer having beenapprehended
for harbouring and supplying with provisions the party who robbed PeterVan
Slyck and being brought before the Board and severally examined resolvedthat
they be committed and that a Mittimus be made out for them. 10 July1781.

The Evert named in this indictment could only have been the son of Evert and
Elsje, and Jacobus Van Valkenburgh, his brother-in-law.

Mary Edwards was very likely the second wife of Evert. At the time of the
birth of their first child, Evert was 38 years old.

FACTS IN SUPPORT OF THE THEORY THAT THE EVERT WHO MARRIED MARY EDWARDS WAS THE SON OF EVERT AND ELSJE EGMONT SISKBY:

Evert and Mary Edwards Sigsbee had a daughter, Lucy, b. 1810 and d. 1880.
Evert and Rebecca Cande Sixbee had a daughter, Lucy, b. 1827 and d. 1843.
It is highly unlikely that a child of the same parent would be given thesame
name as a child still living even if it was another marriage.

Evert and Mary Edwards had 8 children christened at the JerusalemReformed
Church in Feura Bush, NY. None of the names of these children appear inthe
Bible Record of Evert Sixbee (the son of Nicholas and Cornelia).

The 1820 census index shows an Evert Sigsbey living in the Town ofBethlehem,
Albany Co., NY, and an Evert Sixbee living in Delaware Co., NY.

The census report for the Town of Bethlehem indicates that in thehousehold of
Evert there were 4 males under the age of 10 years, 1 male aged 16 to 26yrs,
1 male aged 26 to 45 years, and 1 male aged 45 years and upward. Therewere
2 females under the age of 10 yrs, 2 females between the ages of 16 and26
yrs., and 1 female between the age of 26 to 45 years. Provided thesewere all
Evert's children, it is further evidence that there was a prior marriagefor
Evert.
Evert, the son of Evert and Elsje would have been about 64 years old in1820,
and his wife, Mary, about 42 years old.

The 1820 census report for Davenport, Delaware Co. indicates that the Evert
Sixbee found there had 1 male between the age of 10 to 16 years, 1 male between
the age of 16 to 26 years, and one male aged 26 to 45 years. No females.

Evert Sixbee, the son of Nicholas and Cornelia would only have been 18 years
old at the time of the birth of the first child of Evert and Mary Edwards.
