Captured by the Japanese after the Surrender of Wake Island in 1941.
"He was rescued at Hokodate #2 POW Camp on the northern island of Hokkaido.
He was transferred there from Kiagwan in China, June of 1945. His weight at rescue was under 100 pounds." Information on his rescue is from Roger Mansell Allied POWs in Japan
