JUDE CLEN TALLMAN

Jude Clen TALLMAN, son of Jude Bradford and Mary Elizabeth TALLMAN , was born in Guthrie County, Iowa, on August 3, 1886. He passed away at the Guthrie County Hospital on June 29, 1971.

Mr. TALLMAN was educated in Seeley No. 6 School and the Guthrie County High School. He also attended Drake University for 1 year and Iowa State University for 3 years and was graduated from that institution. After his graduation he taught school for a number of years, and in 1917 engaged in farming. He farmed continuously until his death.

Mr. TALLMAN was a member of the Monteith Christian Church and he was also very active in the Guthrie County Farm Bureau.

On December 23, 1915. Laura Johnson and Jude TALLMAN were united in marriage at the Christian Church in Ames. To this union nine children were born.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two children, three sisters and four brothers.

To mourn his passing are his wife Laura, his son Robert, both of Guthrie Center, his daughter Wilma TALLMAN of Highland Park, Ill., a son Justin "Jack" TALLMAN of Gresham. Ore., a daughter, Clara Marie Garwood of Vinton, Iowa, Laura Mae Ostby of Omaha, Nebr., a son, Peter TALLMAN of Atlantic, Iowa, a daughter Elsie Hertz of North Boston, New York, Also one brother, Walter TALLMAN of Stuart, Iowa, and one sister, Mrs. Carrie Allen of Guthrie Center. Also left to mourn his passing are 21 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Services were held at the Guthrie Center, Ia., Guthrian Methodist Church. Guthrie Center, with the Rev. Jerry D. Palmer, officiating on July 2, 1971.

IN GUTHRIE FOR

CLAUDE TALLMAN

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 from the Guthrie Center Christian church for Claud Tallman who died Saturday afternoon at the Guthrie county hospital.

The 86 year old lifetime resident of Guthrie county, is survived by a son Harold, Guthrie Center; two daughters Mrs. Lula Hall and Mrs. Hershel Bancroft, Dexter; 18 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren an 4 great, great grandchildren.

The Rev. Lester Pearson will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Union cemetery.

Obituary of Jennie SLAYBAUGH

Jennie Angeline SLAYBAUGH, the daughter of Mary and Jude TALLMAN, was born April 8, 1890 in Seeley Township and passed away April 11, 1960 at the Guthrie County Hospital at the age of 70 years and 3 days.

She became a member of the Seeley Christian Church at the age of 14 and later transferred to the Guthrie Center Christian Church where she served faithfully.

She lived all her life in Guthrie County with the exception of two years on a homestead near Chance, South Dakota. She taught school one year in Bear Grove township and the two years she lived in South Dakota.

She was united in marriage to Earl Slaybaugh on October 9, 1912, and to this union were born five children; Ivyl of Earlham, Ollie of Stuart, Vern of Yale, Nyla Prueitt of Des Moines, and Walter of Guthrie Center.

She leaves to mourn her passing besides her husband and five children; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four brothers, Claude and Clen TALLMAN of Guthrie Center, Water [sic] of Stuart and Roy of Perry; 2 sisters, Gail Addison, a medical missionary of India, and Carrie Allen of Guthrie Center, and host of other relatives and friends.
