Tallman Genealogy

Samuel TALLMAN [1847-1926] married to Sarah Francis STORMS in 1868.  They were both born in New York.

While we have had a difficult time trying to find these elusive ancestors, by researching sibling lines, we finally broke through our 'brick wall'.    Along with that we have finally determined for sure that Samuels' father is Dioclesian TALLMAN

OK, OK, now that I have a few more generations figured out, I have updated the OUTLINE TREE.  Check it out.

Be sure to check out the new  TALLMAN-NEWS website.  This is the GREATER TALLMAN FAMILY NEWSLETTER.  New website that just went up in December 2002.  This site will focus on the  newsletters that we have been enjoying since 1985.  There is a lot of history here, going back almost 20 years.  If you are working on your Tallman genealogy connections, this is a resource you shouldn't miss.  I have copies of all of the newsletters.

Another interesting piece has fallen into place.  Just when did the  Tallmans go to Guthrie, and when did they move on to Colorado?   Found a great website that had a biography for J.B TALLMAN,  that had to be Jude Bradford TALLMAN.

J. B. Tallman

J. B. Tallman was born in New York state in the year 1851, being the son of D. C. and Elizabeth (Carpenter) Tallman. When he was about six years of age he came to Scott county, Iowa, where he remained some eight years, when he moved to Cedar county, remaining about two years. He then came to Guthrie county in 1868, where he settled in Highland township. He lived in that township until 1882, when he moved to his present location on section 14 [Seeley township]. He owns two hundred acres of land, one hundred and sixty of which are under cultivation, and raises cattle, hogs and other stock. Mr. Tallman was married in 1874 to Miss Maggie Sheets, who died in September, 1876. He was married again on March 12, 1878, to Miss Mary A. Berry.

Sarah Storms.  Who were her parents, and how did she meet Samuel?

I have one clue, an email from Kim this past April.   I have a Sarah Storms b Jan 1845 to Jacob & Sarah nee Demarest) Storms. She was baptized in Passaic, J. No further info. I also have another Sarah Storms, b 1822 to Abraham & Elizabeth (nee Meyer) Storms . She was b in Rockland County. Again, no further info. Ditto for our database. Does any of this ring a bell?

8/2002- Lots of new photos  and articles.  I've started to put some census images on the census pages.  Don't miss them!
