Although we have seen variant names such as SOLF, SILF, etc., included in Self lists many times before, presumably because of the similarity in spelling or phonetics, we have never yet found any relationship between them and the Self/Selph/Selfe family. If anyone has an ancestor who spelled his/her name in this way--and it actually meant "Self"--please let us know.--Tim and Barbara.
