I have worked in the computer field writing and managing programmers. 
Many very knowledgable people have passed on worms and viruses
unknowingly, as well.  The bugs and viruses get erased, with hopefully
little damage, and life goes on.

There was one such example several years ago with a telephone system
produced by DSC.  The virus took down telephone service which cut people
off from 911 and other such services for a long time.  That damage was
serious and damaging!

Mean and mischievous people waste their precious time writing such worms
and viruses and simply use us as carriers, just like the firus that
gives us the flew.

You were not the cause.  You were just another victum.
