It's been a while since I posted my dead end. Maybe someone can help me,
PLEASE. Family tradition states that Solomon Williams, parents unknown,
married Lucinda McMahan, dau. of Eli McMahan, granddau. of Archibold
McMahan. I can't find any record of the marriage. They lived in what is
now Sevier County and Cocke County, Tennessee. Due to several courthouse
fires, the records I need are gone. Family tradition also states that his
parents were from South Carolina, although they may have traveled from
Virginia to south Carolina, then North Carolina then Tennessee. I know
the MacMahans' did travel VA>SC>NC>TN. Solomon and Lucinda's children were
named Eli (1825), James (1827), Wilson (1829), Mary (1833), Sarah (1834),
George Washington (1834), James ( 1839), Dochia (1841), Matilda ( 1842),
McKinny (1847) My problem is I can't find any record of Solomon. I would
like to find out where in North carolina he was born and try to trace his
family back from there. Any helpful hints or information would be greatly
appreciated. I will share any information I have with anyone researching
this family.
