Brett,
John McManus married Elizabeth Wood(s) in Anson Co., NC in 1784. Do you have anything
on this couple and who their parents were and if they came to Edgefield Dist, SC after their marriage? I have a John McManus, b. ca
1759/62, d. in Edgefield County, SC 1837. I think he
may have been the son of James and Mary McManus of Anson Co., NC . James died ca 1760/61. He was a Captain in the NC militia and
was evidently killed in the Cherokee Indian
War. He is mentioned a couple of times in the "Carolina Cradles" book. It also mentions he
came from Maryland. There was a John McManus in MD in the early 1700s and could have been he father. I have other information on
these families if anyone is interested. (Or you can
find more information on my McManus webpage below.)
      Thanks,

          Joye
