William W. HARDWICK was born in Edgefield District South Carolina in 1754.
He is listed on the 1779 list as a original member of the Colony. I think
that might be 1771. He supposedly married Mary Jane FILES. They relocated to
Lee County Georgia in 1827 to receive a grant of acres for his service in
the American Revolution. Can any tell me who his parents were and if they
are connected to the HARDWICK'S of Westmoreland County Virginia. William
died in 1850 in Lee County Georgia. Some think that John C. HARDWICK and
Elizabeth HARDWICK STRINGER might be grandchildren instead of the children
of William and Mary. I think that Mary is in her eighties about this time,
but am not all together sure.
