Sumter District Will Book E-2 p. 158 Thomas M. Baker, Febry 23 rd 1864
State of South Carolina, Sumter District I Thomas M. Baker an officer in the Army of the State aforesaid being of sound and disposing mind, memory, and understanding but mindful of the uncertainty of life do make constitute and ordain the following to be my last will and testament
First I give and bequeath to my brother Dr. C. R. F. Baker my Negro boy slave Tom.
Second I give to my sister Mrs. Maria B. Taylor the wife of John M. Taylor or Marion County Florida the sum of Five Hundred dollars
Third I give and bequeath to my sister Mrs. Mary Jackson the wife of C. C. Jackson a debt mow due to me by the said Charles C. Jackson of between four hundred and six hundred dollars or thereabouts being for money advanced by me paying in what was due by him on a writ of Ficri Facieas against him in the office of the sheriff of Sumter District (Plaintiff's name forgotten) the judgment is to be marked satisfied.
Fourth I give to my niece Mrs. Gulielma F. Furman the wife of Dr. Irvine R. Furman of Daniels Island near Charleston the sum of five hundred dollars.
Fifth all the rest and residue of my estate both real and personal remaining after the delivering and payment of the above legacies and bequeaths, and after the payment of my just . I give, devise and bequeath to my wife Eliza Jane Baker except that I desire that my brother C. R. F. Baker shall have the book case which I received from my Gather's Estate and any other piece of furniture he may wish which I received from my Father's estate which articles I hereby give to my said brother. 
Lastly I constitute nominate and appoint Hon. Franklin G. Moses my said wife's Father sole executor of this my last will and testament.
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this nineteenth day of June in the year of our Lord on thousand eight hundred and sixty two. Signed, sealed, published and declared by the said Thomas M. Baker as his last will and testament in presence of us who in his presence and at his request and in the presence of each other hereunto subscribe our names.

p. 159 Codicil
I Thomas M. Baker do make constitute and ordain the following as a codicil to my forgoing last will and testament.
First I give and bequeath my mare named Daisy Brunson to my relative and friend Dr. Joseph C. Haynesworth as a token of my regard for him and as a slight testimonial of my appreciation of him many kind attentions during the period of my ill health.
Second A small gold watch given to me by my sister in law Mrs.. Lydia D. Baker I give and bequeath to he second granddaughter Lydia Furman daughter of Dr. J. R. and Mrs. G. F. Furman of Daniels Island on account of her bearing her grandmother's name.
Witness my hand and seal this ninth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty four.  Signed, Sealed, published and declared by the said Thomas M. Baker as a codicil to hi last will and testament in our presence who in his presence and at his request and in the presence and at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names.
