Will of Robert L. Commander Will Book D-2, p. 110
In the name of God amen I Robert L. Commander of the State ofSounty Carolina and Sumter District being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory -------- to Almighty God for this same do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner said forever following viz. 
First I will my body to have Christian burial and my soul to God who gave it.
2nd I hereby empower my executrix and executor to sell and part of my perishable property which they may ------- for the interest of my estate to dispose of, and after my lawful debts are paid should there be any surplus money left arising from said sale it issuing that my wife do receive the one third and that the balance be divided between my children share and share alike or apporpriated if necessary to their support.
3rd I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Mary S. Commander my clock tables, house, the one third of my lands also the one third of my personal property tkack and goods and chattels of every kind to be at her disposial
4th I give and bequeth to my children Emma Caroline Commander, Martha Elizabeth Commander and child with which my wife is pregnant all the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate real and personal together with the remainder of my stock goods and chattles of every kind whatsoever to be divided among them share and share alike when they marry or come to age.
5th Itis my will that my estate be appraided and divided as above directed by them or more free holders chosen by my Executrix and Executor without an order from any court whatever the children to receive their dividends when they marry or come of age and in case one or more of sais children die before they marry  or come of age, it is my will that the surviving children or child shall have the deceased childs or children's dividend of my estate.
And lastly I nominate and appoint my wife Mary S. Commnader Executrix and William McCuthcheon Senr. Executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made in writing.  signed third October one thousand eight hundred forty three.
