In the name of God amen I Henry Byrd of Clarendon county Sumter District and the State of South Carolina being in good health and of sound mind blessed be God for the same do make and publish this my last will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say I bequeath my soul to God who gave it.  IN the first place I desire that my body be decently intered with approprate expense and that all my just debts be paid and as to the good with which it has pleased God to bless my I bestow in the following manner.
Item 1st I give and bequeath ti my beloved daughter Ann L. Reynolds the wife of William L. Reynolds all my real and personal preperty of whatsoever kind I having be prospered at the time of my death - for the tiem of her natural life and after her death to her children and the issue of such of her children as theremay be dead such issue taking together the deceased would have fallen to their parent if living.  I make the aboe bequest to my daughter and her children for their separateuse and there to be worked and managed by my son in law W. L. Reynolds as truster for my daughter the said Ann L. Reynolds and her children and grandchildren durnign the life time of my said son in law W. L. Reynolds.  But if it should so happen that my daughter Ann L. Reynolds should die leaving no childe or children then in that case I give and bequeath to the children of my friend W. W. Coulett my Negro man Jess the ballance of my real and personal estate in case my daught the said Ann L. Reynol!
ds should die leaving no chlidren or grand children I give and bequeath to my son in law W. L. Reynolds to his heirs absolutely and forever
Item 2nd It is my wish and I do hereby so appont that the legal estate in whatsoever propert my be this will fall to my daughter and her children and grandchildren after her may be and remain in W. F. Reynolds so long as she may live subject to his direction and ---------- during his life.
Item 3rd I do hereby nominate and appoint my son in law W. L. Reynolds executor of htis my last will and testament hereby revoking all wills and codicills heretofore made by me.  In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fourth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty three in the presence of witnesses Harvey Skinner, Margaret A. Personally appeared before my H. skinner who being duly sworn sayeth that he was personally presnet and saw Henry Byrd sign, seal, publish, and declare the annexed instrument of writing to be and contain his last will and testament that he the said Henry Byrd was at the time of sound mind, memory, and understanding so far as he the deponent knows and believed and that Margaret A. Skinner dec'd, Charles M Redgill together with himself this deponnent did subscribe their names thereunto at the request of the said Herny Byrd in his presence and in presence of each other. sworn to before me the 2nd day of June 1844  W.
