Census records indicate that my 3GGrandfather was Wiley Harrison, born SC.
He was in Edgefield Co, SC for the 1850 Census with wife Caroline E, age 29,
and children A B (female, illegible), age 12, Robert B. age 10, Caroline,
age 8 (my gggrandmother), Ansel T, age 6, Mary R, age 4, and Sarah, age 1.
In 1860 they were in Noxubee Co, MS with wife S.J., age 26 and and one
additional child, Wiley, then age 8. LDS has information that seems to
indicate that the second wife was Sarah Jane White, the daughter of a Blumer
White whose family was from Brunswick Co, VA (I suspect that someone had
dates or generations confused, as I found indications that they had moved to
Edgefield Co, and the Census indicated that S.J. was born in SC). I also
found a Wiley Harrison (father? uncle?) in Brunswick Co, VA, so I wouldn't
be suprised if my Wiley's family was from that area.
I found a marriage listing at the LDS site for Ansel T Harrison and L. C.
Murphree, 5 July 1877, Yalobusha Co, MS, and except for the fact that the
1860 Census showed A.T. as F and the marriage listing showed M, they match
well enough that I think they were the same person.
Does anyone have enough information about the Brunswick Co, VA or Edgefield
Co, SC Harrisons to help make a connection?
Thanks, Elaine Oakes
