When Evans moved away in 1818 or 1819, the town was given the subjectively descriptive name Mount Pleasant. The present desgination honors a local family who operated a store and a gin. Mount Meigs PO est. in 1827. Mount Meigs Station -- Settlement on the Western RR of Alabama at 322357NO860625W in Montgomery Co.
