This one has been nagging at the back of my mind all day. I think my Alabama
history teacher would be proud something stuck!!

Place names in Alabama, Virginia O. Foscue, The University Press, 1989,
Tuscaloosa, Ala. pg. 98

Mount Meigs -- Settlement with PO at 322145NO860607W in Montgomery Co. First
known as Evansville for Jesse Evans, the tavern owner. When Evans moved away in
1818 or 1819, the town was given the subjectively descriptive name Mount
Pleasant. The present desgination honors a local family who operated a store
and a gin. Mount Meigs PO est. in 1827.

Mount Meigs Station -- Settlement on the Western RR of Alabama at
322357NO860625W in Montgomery Co. Grew up around the RR station for the town of
Mount Meigs, located about 3 miles to the southeast.
