WESTBURY/McGILL/McINTOSH - William McIntosh
Subject: WESTBURY/McGILL/McINTOSH
From: William McIntosh

In his "Reminiscences of Williamsburg County," Dr. Samuel Davis McGILL
writes in some detail about his pious WESTBURY ancestors. Specifically,
Dr. McGILL states that his grandmother Elizabeth WESTBURY (abt 1746 - 24
Jul 1787) married Roger McGILL (b. 28 Aug 1742) on 23 Feb 1767. Dr.
McGILL also writes about my ggg grandfather William McINTOSH
(1764-1843). Dr. McGILL states that William McINTOSH's mother was a
sister of Mrs. Elizabeth (WESTBURY) McGILL.

Any information on the identity of these parents of William McINTOSH
greatly appreciated. The tradition in our family is that his father's
name was John. In the early 1770s, there was a John McINTOSH who owned
land at High Hills of Santee near land owned by a William WESTBURY. In
his Revolutionary War pension application, William McINTOSH states that
he was a student at High Hills of Santee when he joined up with Francis
Marion's men at the age of 16. All of this seems to support a theory
that William's parents were John McINTOSH and a sister of William
WESTBURY and Elizabeth (WESTBURY) McGILL.

Any help appreciated.
