WESTBURY of Colleton/Sumter; MACKINTOSH/McINTOSH of Sumter/Clarendon; McGILL of Williamsburg - William McIntosh

According to my records (much of which comes from Dr. Samuel McGill's
Reminiscences of Williamsburg),

Elizabeth WESTBURY, daughter of William WESTBURY, Jr. and his second
wife Jane, was born about 1746 in St. Bartholomew's Parish, Colleton.
William WESTBURY, Jr. died in 1750.

William WESTBURY III, son of William Jr. and his first wife, moved to
High Hills of the Santee, Sumter District, after his father's death.
His land was bordered by land owned by John JAMES and land owned by John
MACKINTOSH. Apparently, William WESTBURY II cared for his much younger
half-sisters Elizabeth, Mary, and Martha.

Elizabeth WESTBURY married 23 Feb 1767 Roger McGILL, son of Hugh McGILL
and Sarah GORDON. They lived in Indiantown community, Williamsburg
District. One of her half-sisters, Mary or maybe Martha, married John
MACKINTOSH. Their son William McINTOSH (1764-1843) settled at Midway
Church near New Zion in Clarendon County next to a Joshua McINTOSH (who
was either a brother or first cousin). Some McINTOSH researchers
speculate that Joshua McINTOSH was named for Joshua WESTBURY, another
son of William WESTBURY, Jr.

Any information on this WESTBURY/McINTOSH connection greatly
appreciated.

Thanks,

Bill McIntosh
