<< The ferry we crossed was Harley, from thence to Cashways, from thence to
 >> Macanicvill (Mechanicsville, Ga) from thence to Darlington, from thence
 >to
 >> Linches (Lynch's) creek, from thence to Camden, from thence to the water,
 >> from thence to the Congeree (River) and Columbia, from thence to Savannah
 >> river and Augustia and there we paid four dollars and a quarter. >>

Greetings from South Carolina. I believe there is an error in this. This
Mechanicsville is almost certainly Mechanicsville, SC (not GA) since it
was/is in the vicinity of Cashway/Cashaway/Cashua Ferry and Darlington, SC
(Darlington Co.). They surely didn't go from Darlington Co. to Georgia & back
to Darlington Co. LOL-- it really was a hard trip.

Thanks for the post. It's hard to imagine what a trip would have been like
back then.
