This subject is off-topic in the SCRoots Forum. I haven't observed any SPAM passing the Rootsweb SPAM filters into the SCRoots Forum. If anyone has a problem with SPAM received via SCRoots, they should contact the Forum Manager or the SPAM filter managers at Rootsweb. If the SPAM is not coming via SCRoots, then the problem should be taken up directly with the source of the SPAM, or with your Internet Service Provider, or your better business bureau, or your local or state law enforcement, or your attorney, etc. I find this observation interesting. People generally want taxes reduced. Yet, they also want the government to increase services. You can't have it both ways. Services cost money. Money comes from taxes. Establishing a new office in the federal government to receive, study, investigate, and take action on the millions of complaints from citizens who receive SPAM will cost LOTS of money. The existing network of Internet Service Providers already have a technically competent staff which could provide the same, or better, service in most cases. There are also anti-spam programs and filters available which can be installed and configure by each individual. Do we really want the federal government to become the Internet Email Nanny? My personal opinion is that the federal government should become involved when the matter involves national interests. But, not for minor nuisance issues which could be handled by Internet Service Providers, Business Organizations, State governments, or individuals. However, this is just my opinion and you are all welcome to ignore it. But, please take such discussions outside of the SCRoots Forum since they are off-topic here.
