The same proof that is needed for most organizations of this type in needed
for CD. I seriously doubt that anyone has joined with "very little to no
proof". The item below is very misleading. These sources are accepted, but
not as Gospel. If your information comes from these sources you must back
it up with other info.

What kind of proof is needed, and how good is checking of accuracy

Because of the numerson posts re POWG, I thought the following should be
of interest to a lot of our serious researchers. The information is taken
from "Seventeenth Century Review," published by the National Society
Colonial Dames XVII Century. Found on pages 12 and 13.

                         UNACCEPTABLE SOURCES

"The following materials have been found lacking in source citations and
will no longer be accepted as prooof. Previous applications or
supplementals that used these sources will need to be proven against
newer research based on original sources.

 Pioneers of the Wiregrass
 Notable Southern Families (Armstrong)
 Historical Southern Families (Boddie)
Wilder and Some Connecting (espeically some Ware) Families in the
 Southeastern United States
The Blakemore Family and Allied Lines
The Goble Family descended from Thomas Goble of Charleston, Massachusetts
 The Stout Family
 The Freer Family
Descendants of Philip and Ruth Dickerson Witten
 The Tilghman-Tillman Families
 Our Family Circle
 General Leroy Augustus Stafford
 The Ackerman Family
 The Brockman Scrapbook
 The Brockman Family in America"

                         RESEARCH RESOURCE

"Family History Library Salt Lake City"

"The catalog of the world's premier genealogical library is now
accessible through the Internet at FAMILY SEARCH.COM. Material in the
Library may be borrowed through one of the local Family History Centers
in your state. The address list of the Centers is included on the same
 Web page.

"WARNING: this Web site includes the International Genealogical Index and
other trademarked databases. The Society does not accept any material
from these databases as proof at any time! The IGI is notorious for its
errors. Use these databases at your own risk."

Oophs!!! I was about to forget to say that the above information appeared
in Volume 41, No. 3 Autumn 199.9. Sorry about that.

Hope this will prove useful to someone.
