to a baby - JEAN PRATHER

During my research through obits and inscriptions I came across this
written by a mother in S.C. I would like to share it with you. after
sitting here typing names of babies and children from the stones
You tell me not to worry
That I must be brave and bold
Well, I wonder if you ever lost
A baby two years old
Lost a baby bright and smiling
Dancing eyes and sunny hair
Dimpled cheeks so red and rosy
He was pretty, He was fair
Oh, he was my only baby
Just had learned to say my name
and if you had lost a baby
I'm quite sure you'd feel the same
But those darling lips are sealed
No more I'll here him say
Loves you mommy,I loves you
As within my arms he lay
Oh. when I go to bed at night
I miss my darling so
Seems like I can see him hear him
For you see I loved him so
and sometimes when I am dreaming
In my arms he is again
Then I'm happy to be with him
But when I wake it brings me pain
Yes, my darling one has left me
Left me sad and lonely here
But someday know I'll meet him
Where I will never shed a tear
For I loved him yes I loved him
But the Saviour loved him more
And now the Lord has called him
To the hapy golden shore
Seems like almost I can see him
Playing in the streets of gold
Oh!the little lamb is sheltered
Safe within the Shepherds fold
And I know that he is waiting
At heavens gate so fair
And someday I'll kiss my baby
When I meet him over there
Seems almost like I can hear him
Say, mommy daddy here I am
Here's yor baby waiting for you
Now I'm Jesus little lamb
Yes mommy and daddy's coming
And I know it wont be long
Till we join you precios Darling
With that happy eager throng
So then you tell me not to worry
That I must be brave and bold
You'd understand if you had loved,
And lost a baby two years old
But I pray you never
Know, the heartache and the pain
That I must endure forever
Till in Heaven we meet again

From his mommy
