Mr. Linton,
I know nothing of this particular person listed but wanted to make you
aware of something.
In Washington County GA there is a community named Linton that  consisted
of general store, bank, post office, merchantile company. blacksmith. You
get the picture I'm sure that this was everything to sustain a farming
community.  Washington County  was est. 1784. It is about three counties 
inland from the Savannah river that separates GA and SC. Perhaps this was
began by someone of your direct line.  Hope this helps.
