Ken,
Maybe your circumstances are as my husband's. His gg grandfather died
in 1840s leaving three young sons still at home. Their mother had died in
1836/37. He had remarried in 1839, but I don't know what happened to his
second wife. However, she did not have the three sons after his death
because each of them shows up on the 1850 census in their two sisters' and
one brother's homes. So maybe Thomas is John's brother living with him.
   Just a thought. Good luck!
      Joye

| My HODGES Genealogy ship has been torpedoed.
|
| Apparently, John HODGES had 3 children, George b. 1769, Elizabeth, and
Welcome - BUT not THOMAS!
|
| I've always wondered how John b. 1747 could have sired Thomas b. 1755
because of their birth years. It now appears to be the
|
| obvious - he didn't. So WHO IS Thomas' father? What is the connection
between Thomas and the other HODGESes of SC and
|
| NC?
