Old William (the marrying man) Richey lived in the Old 96th District
/Abbeville Co. SC.  and died around 1821.  According to what I have found
William was married three (3) times.  I show from one source that he had four
children in his first marriage to an unknown woman (date of marriage before
1812) 
 
                    Margaret D Richey
                    Jane C. Richey
                    Robert Caldwell Richey
                    Polly Ann Richey

 The second marriage was to a ???Cowan  in 1817 at the Old 96th District.
This marriage produced two children:

                     Isaac Cowan Richey
                     Elizabeth Dorilla Richey

The third marriage was to Elizabeth (Betsey) Cowan in 1819 at the Old 96th
District

I am trying to find out if Polly Ann Richey is a product of William's first
marriage or if she was, in fact, a product of the first marriage of Elizabeth
(Betsey) Cowan to a ???Lyons.  and then taken the Richey name when he mother
remarried...Both references have (Polly) marrying a Hawthorne.  One list the
Hawthorne as Thomas and the other as ????Hawthorne.  Thomas was my GG
Grandfather and one of these (or perhaps both) Pollys my GG Grandmother.

Anyone working on the Cowan, Richey, or Hawthorne lines may have this info and
I would be very grateful if you could share it......Fred Hawthorne
