I have added another 2,000 names to my Civil War in South Carolina site,
bringing the total to almost 12,000 now on line.

This represents information on approx. 20% of the men who served from South
Carolina. The newest additions include rosters of the 1st Infantry Regiment
(Butler's) who were (obviously) some of the first men to join in the spring
and summer of 1861. These men were from all across the state, - seems every
farmer headed to Charleston to join up just as soon as the crops were planted,
and I've even seen some enlistments in this group from Valdosta, GA.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this site. If you don't find the
one you're looking for there, drop me a note. I have another 30,000 or so
names which I have not yet transcribed.
