    Thanks for all the input on Hamburg.  At least now I have a better idea of how to find it!  Jim I did not have you address so thanks for looking in the directory and in the census.  When Wm. & Georgia Ann married in Oct. of 1840 he is Wm. H Greene of Hamburg, SC to Georgia Ann Ioor of Greenville.  One search I did at the Family History site turned up a Wm. Greene born abt. 1763 in Beach Island, SC.  He had brother John, Benjamin and McKeen and parents Thomas and Susannah Harris Greene.  I know Beach Island is not far from there but I also know that it is not Hamburg.  This man I have decided must have been a space alien as there is not one clue to his existence other than the marriage notice.
Again thanks for all the help.  If I ever find anything else I will share the joy of the moment with all of you.
