Subject: Tar River From: MDTeat Date: February 15, 1999 North Carolina 1790 Census list : Thomas Oakley, Tar River District William Oakley, Tar River District Yet I have Thomas land deed in 1773, Chershaw District , Saluda River, eastern side of river. Were these two Districts the same? I've been told there is possibly a Tar River Historical Society, does anyone know if true and how to contact them? Is this NC or SC today?
