Thank you for your response! My research indicates this is another line.
I have not been able to tie the Francis Avant I, who had two sons Francis &
John with the Caleb Avant line. The John mentioned is not a match per deed
records and probate. BUT, thank you for responding!. I never know when I
might tie these two together!

of Caleb Avant. I am also looking for proof that Joshua Avant, the Elder
(Sr.) was indeed Caleb's son by his first marriage. There is reportedly a
court case around 1767/68 that verifies this but I have not been able to
obtain more information. Caleb Avant was a wealthy French Huguenot that
settled on the Black River arriving around the Pee Dee River in 1734. It
is there most of his family settled and owned extensive land. {In 1732,
Caleb Avant filed a plat, certified on October 5, 1732, pursuant to which he
had been granted five hundred ten acres in Craven County on the east side of
the Big Pee Dee River (Source: Plats without Grants, page 12, State
Archives, Columbia, SC)

River on and around near Catfish Creek. Johnathan's son John is reportedly
who my line comes through. John administered his father(Jonathan Avant's
estate). If anyone as any additional information or corrections, I would
love to hear from you. My website is at
